Workshop Information

With nature right outside our door, most workshops at The Birdhouse will be an integrated experience where we explore our natural surroundings and use these findings as a catalyst for our art projects. Rhonda’s departure from being a high school Visual Arts teacher for 20 years enables her to extensively use her educational background to connect people of all ages with the Arts through self-developed, art-based workshops. Rhonda is utilizing her Honours Specialist in Art Education to its full potential.

Rhonda spent 18 years of her life at Red Lake District High School as the art teacher for students in Grades 9 through to Grade 12 and another 10 years as the sole proprietor of The Clever Corvid Art and Art Workshops. She carries the knowledge she developed as an Art Educator into the workshops she teaches your child, because Art is about

That is why Rhonda’s business mantra is: “Think.Art”. Art is a head to hand process where you think with your head, then you do with your hands. She designs workshops with that in mind so that your child has creatively immersive opportunities in her workshops.

Studies have shown that being out in nature is truly good for the soul. Having exposure to the land allows an opportunity to assist in one’s health and well-being. Through slow, meandering walking paths and hiking trails visitors have an opportunity to spend time outdoors in nature through all seasons.

At The Birdhouse, not only will you have an immersive experience in nature, but an opportunity to bring that experience back into the studio through the guidance of a professional artist and art educator. Even when doing a “painting party” style workshop, Rhonda ensures that the art piece has a lot of room for exploration and personal growth. Everyone makes their own artistic decisions and walks away with something they can truly call their own.

At The Birdhouse, space is also held for other artists to host workshops as well in a variety of creative forms such as music, drama, dance, sculpture, and photography. The possibilities for creative expression are endless here.
